The Road 2 Here
In May 2017, four ‘Camino Pilgrims’ will walk the ‘Way of St. James’, a historical 780km (almost 500 mile) journey beginning in the French side of the Pyrenees across northern Spain to Santiago de Compostela. Each day of their 30+ day pilgrimage will be dedicated to one of our ‘Roadies’, children who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. All CF and DMD Roadies will receive donations from corporate and private sponsors, bringing much needed financial support and public awareness to their fight.
A genetic disease of the lungs and digestive system, children with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) face a myriad of health challenges. There is no cure.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a severe genetic illness causing muscle weakness and muscle loss, typically in boys. There is no cure.
Leslie, along with her husband, Ken, are recent transplants to semi-rural Arkansas. Leslie has always dreamed of having a small homestead with fruit trees, large vegetable garden, and chickens. Lots of chickens. She is now making her dreams come true on 5 beautiful acres. She is also excited to be making her dream of walking the Camino come true while helping a bunch of well-deserving kids and their families. She is looking forward to taking this epic journey with her daughter, Lindsey, son-in-love John, and friend Raelyn.
John is a devoted husband and father of two crazy boys. He is a true surfer at heart and jumps in the water any chance he gets. When not in fish-form, John is outside running, hiking, biking, and enjoying the great outdoors. John knows that when his wife (Lindsey) says “we are walking 500 miles…”, he’d better start packing! In all seriousness, John is excited to walk for this great cause, partnering with his wife and mother-in-law makes it even better!
Lindsey is a wife, mother, chef, fitness instructor, athlete, past survivalist on Discovery Channel’s Naked and Afraid, and an all over nature enthusiast, with a passion for people and adventure. Above all else, Lindsey just wants to show God’s love in a big way. Read more about Lindsey and how this whole adventure began by clicking here.
Raelyn is honoring a promise she made to her son when he was 4 years old and coughing all night. He begged her to take his cough away and she promised she would do everything in her power to help do that.
She is a mother to two amazing boys, including one with cystic fibrosis, and wife to one hard working man. She loves playing sports, traveling, and fundraising for a cure, but most of all spending time with friends and family. Nothing makes her heart happier than trying to make a difference in the world and people’s lives.
